New Direction for Kaz!

A new year and a new beginning and I’m so excited! In a complete 360, I’m following my heart and writing a cozy mystery series! And the first books in the series are about to go live! Exclamation overload? You bet! And it’s about to get worse.

Join me in an indulgent moment while I, for the first time, ‘officially’ present the cover of “Chocolate and Old Lace.  Want to read the blurb? Of course you do. (I hope)

So:

Where there’s a will, there’s a body…

For one brief hour on a sunny Texas morning, amateur baker Rosie Hart glimpses a life she’d always dreamed about – thanks to a bequest from elderly Miss Alice. But her old friend is barely cold in the ground when Rosie’s dream turns into a nightmare and she’s accused of Miss Alice’s murder.

As the only stranger in tight-knit rural Airlie Falls, and the only person with any kind of motive (the will) – things aren’t looking good for Rosie. Especially when more bodies start piling up and mysterious letters start circulating faster than Holly can pull a tray of cherry nut clusters out of the oven!

Locals in the little town are getting uneasy, especially when Rosie starts to suspect the old lady’s murder has links to a sixty year old suspicious death on the very property she’s inherited. There’s only one thing to do: Prove the two are related – and that she’s innocent.

Turning in circles

It feels kinda like I’ve come full circle. My first published work (as an adult) was a romantic novella published by Pan Macmillan. My second, third fourth and etc etc, were for kids and teenagers. Now, after seventy-two traditionally published books for that latter genre mix, I’m back writing for adults – and loving it. Probably it’s because it’s a change of scenery to some extent, added, of course, to the fact I’m writing in a genre that has intrigued me all my life, but in changing direction I’ve fallen in love with writing all over again. Cozy mysteries. I’ve been hooked on them since I was about twelve. So, it’s time.

What, Where and When…

It’s a series, and it’s set in small town USA: The Rosie Hart Mystery Series. Rosie, the protagonist, is an amateur baker, which means I also get to share some simple recipes while presenting my wonderful readers with a puzzle to be solved. Simply? Who done it? Will you pick the murderer? I truly am so, so excited! And here’s a sneaky peek.

The covers of all the books in the series are by the talented Helen Katsinis – Helzcat Designs – and I couldn’t be more thrilled.. This book will be available on all e-platforms by the end of January. Watch out for the official notification!

And the begging begins… ☺ I’m going to need your help along the way, so please don’t be offended by begging posts. I promise to show my gratitude with loads of giveaways. I also have loads of ‘new things’ – like a new website, newsletter and fun things to do and I’ll be updating those in the coming days and weeks. Oh heck, I may as well begin the begging right here: My newsletter. I’m so excited about it and would love to share it with you and keep in contact. Please join me? I’d be so grateful. The first person to sign up from this post will get a lovely surprise! ☺ ☺ ☺ Thank you!

  1. Hopefully this puts me on your list! It reminds me of a series by Kerry Greenwood, but not the same. I think it is the baking and crime mix. Can’t wait to read yours!! Good luck!
